Two-step verification (2FA) information
07 September 2026
The security of your data is extremely important to us. That is why, since the beginning of this year, we have been using two-step verification (2FA) when you log in to MySena. You may already use 2FA for online banking, online stores, or social media. We use the same method: in addition to your password, you need an extra verification code to log in.
Two-step verification (2FA) information
What exactly is 2FA?
2FA stands for two-factor authentication. You log in using:
Your Sena number and password.
An additional verification code sent to your mobile phone or email.
Only someone who has both your password and your verification code can access your account. This makes MySena much more secure against misuse or unauthorized access.
For most rights holders, little changes. You log in as usual but also receive an extra code to confirm your login.
That is why we ask you to check that your details in MySena are up to date. Having a current mobile phone number is particularly important, as it ensures you receive the verification code when you need it.
Will I receive the code via SMS or email?
In most cases, you will receive the verification code via SMS on the mobile number registered in MySena. If we do not have a mobile number for you, or if SMS is not available for your number, we will automatically send the verification code to the email address we have on file.
Not receiving the email? Please be sure to check both your inbox and your spam folder.
Does someone else handle your affairs?
In practice, some rights holders share their personal MySena login credentials with a representative, such as an artist manager or other intermediary. This often occurred because payments were made directly to the rights holder, yet both the rights holder and the representative wanted access to the account. However, with the introduction of 2FA, the verification code is sent to the rights holder's mobile phone number. Consequently, a representative can no longer log in independently using the rights holder's personal credentials. For this reason, 2FA has been temporarily disabled upon request for a limited number of rights holders.
What changes for representatives?
To represent rights holders, an intermediary account must be used. This requires a valid power of attorney and a copy of the rights holder's valid proof of identity.
Additionally, starting in October 2026, it will be possible to have payments made directly to the rights holder, while representation continues to be handled via the intermediary account.
The rights holder's account will then be linked to the intermediary account, but payments will be made directly to the rights holder instead of the intermediary.
What action do you need to take?
To ensure the representation of your rights holders continues seamlessly after October 2026, please complete the following steps:
Create an intermediary account and register a mobile phone number where you can receive 2FA verification codes.
You can sign up via: MySena sign-up;
Obtain a signed Power of Attorney and a copy of a valid ID for each rights holder you represent;
Submit a representation request for each rights holder via your intermediary account. Please consult the information regarding the intermediary account and the associated FAQs;
Inform the Service Desk by email which rights holders wish to receive their remuneration directly. We can then set this up for you.
Make arrangements in good time
We advise you to obtain the necessary authorizations and copies of identity documents well before October 2026. This ensures you can submit requests for representation on time and avoid issues related to the mandatory use of 2FA.
Do you have any questions about registering as an intermediary or submitting a request for representation? Please feel free to contact the Service Desk at 035-6251780 or servicedesk@sena.nl.
