(dance) Events
When music is played outside the home, for example at an event, this is considered a communication to the public.
For this communication to the public, we request a fee on behalf of the musicians and producers of that music in the form of a license.
Music at (dance) events
If you organize an event at an external (rented) location, you always need an event license for this; the entertainment music license for the location is not sufficient. If you are the venue owner yourself and hold an entertainment music license for the location in question, and you organize an event at that location with an entrance fee of no more than €25 (excl. VAT), the permission is included. If you organize an event with an entrance fee higher than €25 (excl. VAT), a separate event license is required. You must also declare this when organizing a free-access (dance) event.
