Mandates
Most European countries have neighbouring rights legislation similar to that in the Netherlands. This means that if your music is played in other countries, you as the creator are entitled to remuneration. To collect these royalties on your behalf, we need a mandate from you.
With a global network of more than 80 neighbouring rights organisations worldwide, Sena helps you collect your international royalties. Through this network, we can claim your rights and distribute royalties from abroad to you. Sena has one of the most extensive international networks in the industry.
Which mandate is right for you?
Worldwide mandate (recommended)
Do you want to avoid missing out on international royalties when your music is used abroad? Then a worldwide mandate is the most complete option.
With a worldwide mandate, you authorise Sena to collect royalties on your behalf worldwide. You do not need to identify where your music is being used, contact foreign organisations, register your repertoire abroad, or submit individual claims yourself. Through our international partnerships, the use of your music abroad is monitored and claimed on your behalf.
A worldwide mandate also grows with your career. If your music reaches new markets or Sena enters into new international agreements, you automatically benefit without having to update your mandate.
Benefits:
- Maximum coverage of your international rights;
- No manual registration or claim procedures abroad;
- Automatic access to new international agreements;
- Less administration and a lower risk of missing out on royalties.
Worldwide mandate with exceptions
Would you like to benefit from Sena's global network while managing specific countries yourself? Then you can choose a worldwide mandate with exceptions. Please note that you may miss out on royalties if your music is unexpectedly used in countries that are not covered by your mandate.
Regional mandate with additional countries
With this mandate, we collect royalties in the Netherlands and in the countries you specifically select.
This option may suit you if you know exactly where your music is being used and intentionally want to limit your international coverage. Please note that you may miss out on royalties if your music is unexpectedly used in other countries.
Regional mandate
With a regional mandate, we only collect royalties in the Netherlands.
This option is mainly suitable if your music is only used in the Netherlands or if you prefer to manage and claim your foreign rights yourself. In that case, you are responsible for monitoring the use of your music abroad and submitting any claims directly.
Our recommendation
A worldwide mandate is the most complete and future-proof choice. It allows you to benefit from Sena's international network, reduces your administrative workload, and minimises the risk of unclaimed foreign royalties. This means you can focus on creating music while we focus on collecting your royalties.
